Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Recipe

Here’s a classic, delicious Homemade Philly Cheesesteak recipe that’s packed with tender beef, melty cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (freeze for 30 minutes to make slicing easier)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz for a traditional option)
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls

Instructions:

  1. Season the sliced ribeye with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tbsp olive oil. Add the green bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add the sliced ribeye and cook, stirring occasionally, for 4-5 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the steak, mixing everything together. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Lay the slices of provolone (or drizzle Cheez Whiz) over the steak and veggie mixture. Cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes, until the cheese melts.
  6. Slice open the hoagie rolls, and fill each roll with the cheesy steak and vegetable mixture.
  7. Serve hot, and enjoy your homemade Philly Cheesesteak.

ENJOY!!
